The Glen Elgin Distillery dates back all the way to 1898, and it's situated up in the Speyside region. Using six stills and six wooden worm tubs, Glen Elgin produces a wonderfully fruity, flavoursome spirit which is very popular among blenders. But blends aren't why we're here – we're here to get the full-on Glen Elgin experience from its ace single malt! This is the 12 year old expression, the only official distillery bottling from Glen Elgin, boasting those aforementioned fruit notes alongside helpings of buttery vanilla and sweet spices.
Nose: Cereal sweetness on the nose, with hints of rum spice, a little espresso coffee, toffee apples and ginger.
Palate: A soft, malty palate with hints of salty butter, Corinth raisins, walnut loaf and coffee ice-cream.
Finish: A long, malt-driven finish with hints of sugary porridge on the tail.
