Sir Walter Millard travelled to Scotland in 1883 in search of an impeccable Scotch Whisky. His search ended in a blend created by James MacKinlay of the second generation of the Leith Scotch Whisky Blending family.
Being a keen 'Angler',Sir Walter Millard named the whisky Black Dog in honour of his favourite salmon fishing fly used in the Spey and Tay rivers of Scotland since the early 19th century. Thus was born Black Dog Scotch Whisky.
Black Dog Triple Gold Reserve is a luxury blend of some of the finest aged malt and grain whiskies and makes a strong statement of its glorious lineage. These whiskies have been meticulously selected and nurtured to age slowly in American distillery run Bourbon casks in the conducive climes of Scotland. These are then blended together, finally matured and married in Oloroso Sherry Butts that gives the complexity and depth of character to the blend. All the individual character of whiskies from Highland,Speyside,Islay and Lowland come together in this timeless piece of art.
Today more than a hundred years later,Black Dog Scotch Whisky remains faithful to the original blend.Sit back, relax and enjoy the true spirit of class and fitnesse.
Nose : Begins wheat like, creamy and malty starting sweet like a bouquet of caramel, honey, chocolate and dark raisins. Smoke, burnt wood and a subtle hint of peat makes much of the foreground while bits of orange peels and an almond like nuttiness hovers in and around the backdrop.
Taste: Quite smooth, fruity and sweet with much of the vanilla and caramel pulling through. Shards of wood laced with a hint of spice and the tanginess of oranges is followed by dark grapes with a winey character typical of the sherry cask maturation.
Finish: Dry, sweet, pleasant and long.
