In 1897 John Hopkins discovered a unique spot in the heart of Speyside, ideal for making exceptionally smooth whisky.Building a distillery in the steep, wooded glen by the Granty Burn was challenging,However, with abundant ,pure water and the rich natural elements of this lush region of Scotland,it was worth the effort.
To this day,Speyburn remains the only distillery to draw its water from this major tributary of the River Spey. Here, maturing undisturbed for fifteen long years in hand-selected American oak and Spanish oak casks, surrounded by fresh, fragrant air and rich woodland, this golden liquid has aged gently, nurtured by the soft, local elements. Then, without chill-filtering or colouring,we bottle it,capturing the rich, vibrant essence of Spryside. This full-bodied and complex dram is bursting with notes of dark chocolate, vanilla, citrus fruits, raisins and spice. The creamy finish is warm and long-lasting.
Nose Marmalade, sawdust, cacao nibs and stroopwafel dipped in coffee.
Palate Honey'd barley and Tunnock's Caramel Wafers. A flash of flamed orange peel, shortly joined by lemon meringue.
Finish Brown sugar, honeycomb and dried banana chips.
