Unlike other Tomintoul expressions, Tomintoul Peated has been distilled using peated malted barley to impart a distinctive smoky flavour. Matured in the finest American oak ex-bourbon barrels, Tomintoul Peated retains the core approachable, sweet and fruity characteristics associated with Tomintoul Single Malts but with the addition of a subtle campfire smoke.
Nose: Full
and pungent. There are notes of heather roots and wood smoke. A dark peat with
notes of copper and pine oils with a touch of gentle sweetness from the barley
malt.
Palate: Quite
rich and powerful. There are notes of toasted oak with notes of pepper and the
smoke thereof. Notes of toasty cereals and supple peat. A wistful ash note
builds.
Finish: Long
and hot with pepper and a leafy green note.
